A rare mid-century airline blanket produced by Pendleton Woolen Mills for Trans World Airlines (TWA), dating to the late 1950s–early 1960s at the height of the Jet Age.
Featuring bold block “TWA” lettering on a neutral wool ground, this blanket reflects the era when air travel was synonymous with modern design, optimism, and prestige. These blankets were commissioned for use on long-haul and first-class flights and were never intended for retail sale, making surviving examples increasingly scarce.
The graphic simplicity reads strikingly contemporary, whether styled over a sofa, folded on a credenza, or used as a functional throw. A standout textile that bridges aviation history and mid-century modern design.
